50th Percentile is the Breed Avg. EPDs for 2024 Born Calves

Built from his American Hereford Association record, EPDs as of 24 Aug 2026, in the same format AHA uses. The numbers are AHA’s; this drawing is ours. See AHA’s own chart for this bull.

What stands behind these numbers

We are enrolled in the American Hereford Association’s Whole Herd Total Performance Records (TPR) program. That means we report on every cow in the herd every year — calving records, weights, and disposals — not only the animals that make us look good. A breeder reporting selectively can shade his own numbers. Whole herd reporting does not allow it.

We also DNA test every animal we own through AHA. Testing puts DNA behind the EPDs — what AHA calls genomic-enhanced EPDs — which matters most on a young bull with no calves on the ground, where the numbers would otherwise be little more than an average of his parents. It also screens for the genetic abnormalities the association tracks.

24009 is tested free of dilutor, idiopathic epilepsy, hypotrichosis, and maple syrup urine disease. Those results are not ours to assert — they are listed under Genetic Conditions on his public AHA record, where anyone can read them. Open the record below and look.

Certified Hereford Beef Sire of Distinction — where he stands

The American Hereford Association recognizes bulls that excel in carcass traits as Certified Hereford Beef Sires of Distinction. The standard is published and has three parts: top 25% of the breed for CHB$, and accuracy of at least .25 on both ribeye area and marbling.

24009 is top 6% for CHB$, with accuracy of .40 on ribeye area and .41 on marbling. All three numbers are on his AHA record, in the table above, and on the chart.

AHA has not designated him. The recognition shows as CHB after a bull’s name on his record, and his does not carry it yet. So what we will say is what is true: he meets the published standard, and every number behind that sentence is one you can read for yourself. When AHA adds him, this page will say so.
