Why Buy a Reed Bull
- Raised on grass, not in a feedlot. Our cattle reside on irrigated pasture at Alamo, and we hold summer range at Long Valley Junction, Utah, at 7,500 feet. They move between the two as the year allows. The bulls we will offer in the spring of 2027 were developed at Alamo — it was too dry this year to send them to the mountain.
- Baldy calves that bring a premium. Our herd sire GENOA 234K LONG HAUL 24009 ranks in the top 6% of the breed for CHB$ and the top 5% for weaning weight. Crossed on black cows, that shows up at the sale barn. See his full EPD table.
- Calving ease you can use on heifers. We select for it, and we publish the numbers so you can check them yourself.
- Numbers you can check yourself. We report whole herd performance data to AHA every year and DNA test every animal we own. Genomic-enhanced EPDs, screened for genetic abnormalities, and all of it on the public AHA record — not just our word for it. See the full table.
- Full eye pigment and sound feet. Two things that cost commercial cattlemen real money when they’re missing.
- Registered Herefords since 1996. Thirty years in the breed, in this country, under the same family.
- Private treaty, direct with us. No sale ring, no order buyer. Come look at the cattle, ask what you want, and we’ll tell you straight. More about how we do things.
Get on the List
We expect to offer about eight bulls in the spring of 2027. That is a short list, so buyers on it hear what is coming before anything is posted here. Give us a call and we will tell you what we have, or see what is coming this spring.
