Registered Polled Hereford Cattle Since 1996

Since 1996, Reed Herefords has been raising registered polled Hereford cattle at Alamo, Nevada. Our cattle reside on irrigated pasture at Alamo, and we hold summer range at Long Valley Junction, Utah, at 7,500 feet. They move between the two as the year allows — in a dry year they stay home.

We breed for the man buying a bull. That means calving ease you can turn out on heifers, feet and legs that hold up walking for feed, disposition you can work around, full eye pigment, and calves that weigh up in the fall.

Our herd sires carry the numbers to back it up. Crossed on black cows, our bulls sire baldy calves that bring a premium at the sale barn. Our current sire GENOA 234K LONG HAUL 24009 ranks in the top 6% of the breed for CHB$, the top 5% for weaning weight, and the top 4% for marbling — see his full EPD table.

We report whole herd performance data to the American Hereford Association every year — every cow, every calf, not only the ones that look good — and we DNA test every animal we own through AHA. That puts DNA behind the EPDs and screens for genetic abnormalities, and the results show on each animal’s public AHA record rather than only on ours. See what that looks like on our herd sire.

Each year we offer a select group of bulls by private treaty, along with a limited number of females. Many of our customers return year after year, a reflection of the trust, transparency, and consistent quality that define Reed Herefords.
